8.5″x10″ tall. Iconic late period Franklin profile fills nearly every inch. Signed Elijah Mayer (c.1785 – 1834) reverse. Mayer was a respected Stoke-on-Trent potter competing against Josiah Wedgwood. The attribution bottom right to this bold sculpt “Bentley” likely refers to Wedgwood’s partner Thomas Bentley (1730-80). Uneven back which does not lay flat. Clay is 1/4″ thick. Trivial imperfections as original at edges w/ single chip at back edge of bottom rail. Rare & institutional grade example. VF. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
